Research into the history of Japanese theaters is one of the themes of Kinoshita's photography, and he has photographed around 90 old Japanese playhouses, rural theaters, and Noh stages, including Kabuki-za before its reconstruction and Kanemaru-za pictured here.
He has also devoted himself to the preservation of Korakukan in Kosaka, Akita.
