Kinoshita has photographed many modern dance performances, such as those by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the Nikolais Dance Company, and the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, as well as modern ballet performances by the Antonio Gades Dance Company, the Roland Petit Ballet Company, and John Neumeier with the Hamburg Ballet. He sees his photographs as "moving sculptures", and has photographed almost all of Maurice Béjart's performances in Japan.
