John Coltrane

Kinoshita experimented with various techniques for capturing music on film in his 20s and 30s. Between the 1960s and 1980s he photographed live portraits of pop musicians visiting Japan, running the gamut from Jazz, to Rock, Chanson, Tango, and Folk. This photograph shows Coltrane in his latter years. This series of photographs led to a nomination for Time-Life International Photography Rookie of the Year in 1975.
