With his work spanning the past five decades, photographer Akira Kinoshita has been dedicated to the theme of "photographing music" since the 1960s. His photographs have won high praise from prominent figures in the world of music such as Herbert von Karajan, who said he could "hear music in them," as well as Leonard Bernstein, Lorin Maazel, and Zubin Mehta.
The Akira Kinoshita Archives was established to house and preserve the extensive collection of over 30,000 rolls of film shot by him. On this website we will provide an introduction to his photography as well as details of select works.
